Goal-Setting Workshop

Selwyn Community Education, 10am-4pm, Saturday 8 September, 2012. $66.

Is something holding you back?

Do you find that year-in year-out you make the same New Years’ Resolutions, complain about the same problems, hope for the same solutions, but that nothing really changes?

In this 1-day workshop, you will get clear about what is important to you and how you can make the lasting changes you desire. Whatever your reason for coming, this one-day supportive workshop is sure to change how you SEE yourself and your life. Gain clarity, reconnect with your passion, and tap into what gives you meaning.

Goals give us direction in all areas of our lives. Goals give us purpose, a reason for getting up early in the morning, for working, for living, for loving. Goals inject drive and passion into everything we do. Perhaps you’re feeling direction-less, confused, lethargic, uninspired, even angry about where life has brought you? Perhaps your life is just fine, but you have often wondered what goal-setting could do to enhance your vitality and passion? Or perhaps you have done goal-setting work in the past and are ready to push your insight and sense of fulfillment to the next level? During the first half of the workshop, you will take stock of where you’ve come from, where you are, and where you want to be. In the second half, you will have a chance to clarify your vision and articulate a mission statement for the future, and set short-term and long-term goals for key areas of your life. During the last portion of the workshop, you will clarify your intentions and design discrete actions to begin using immediately.

About Me

Steff Metal (known to the tax-collectors as Steff Green) is a freelance writer, pro-blogger and heavy metal maiden living in New Zealand with her cantankerous drummer husband and their medieval sword collection. As well as running a successful heavy metal blog SteffMetal, Steff is the author of the Gothic Wedding Planner, a wedding celebrant for alternative weddings, the author of metal webcomic Corpsepaint Kitty, and a writer for over 50 different blogs, magazines and publications.

I am a passionate, enthusiastic and humorous speaker. I dress unconventionally and gesture a lot when I talk. I use powerpoint slides only to illustrate ideas – I don’t believe in reading my talk off them. I’m not your average speaker, but I love to connect with your people and share topics I’m passionate about.

Hire Me to speak on:

  • Motivation, goal-setting and overcoming adversity. As a legally-blind adventurer, a dark alternative and an all-round “weird” chick, I can share with you my wisdom gained from a life of forging my own path.
  • Marketing and small business in the digital age. I work with small creative business clients to hone their marketing message. Let me teach your people how to sell more online.
  • Writing: idea generation, overcoming the blank page, selling your work, self-publishing and the freelance life. As a professional wordsmith with over seven years experience, I can help up-and-coming writers overcome their fears.
  • Blogging: creating content and finding an audience online. With over 50 000 people reading my words every month, I know how to find your people online.

I love to collaborate with other creatives in panel discussions, give motivational or educational talks, conduct powerful workshops or entertain or MC at a function. If you want to learn more about a particular course, or you’d like to hire me to speak or teach a workshop at your event, contact me and I’ll be happy to help.
